New Orleans Lakefront Airport Terminal / Administration Building Hurricane Repairs & Restoration
New Orleans, LA
RCLA is proud to have led the restoration of the New Orleans Lakefront Airport Terminal Building to its original Art Deco Grandeur. The building was built in the early 1930’s by Artisans and Master Craftsmen during the Works Progress Administration Period. It was later transformed into a potential military shelter following the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960’s. Heavily damaged during Hurricane Katrina, the terminal was stripped of the concrete panel cladding that entombed this historically significant structure. This project involved the complete restoration for this extensively damaged, historically significant building. Included a complete interior restoration and all new mechanical and lighting systems (including sprinkler and fire alarms) and partial structure repairs and total exterior repairs.
